Questions and Answers…

Categories: Fashion, Her Universe Brand, Star Wars // Comments: 136

Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for all of your kind words and support. The outpouring of encouragement and excitement has been truly incredible and you have confirmed (even though I already knew this :o ) that Star Wars fans are some of the best fans around!

I have been reading all of your comments over the past week and I want to use this opportunity to answer some of your questions.

1.) What are the sizes for our shirts, is this more of a junior line, and will be offering plus sizes? For out first line, we will be offering our shirts and sweatshirts in sizes XS-XXL. While every garment is a little bit different, this is not a juniors line, and most shirts fit pretty true to size. I will have sizing notes on our website for each garment to assist you in your choice. Our shirts also have a good bit of stretch in them and are very soft and comfortable. While we do not have sizes for the younglings, yet, our XS’s should fit our young Padawans just fine. As I have said in some of my other posts, every woman’s body is beautiful, and we want merchandise to flatter our figures, no matter our shape or size. We are currently seeking out garments in plus sizes because our goal for Her Universe is to provide ALL of our female fans with merchandise. I will keep you updated on our progress.

2.) Can you buy Her Universe merchandise if you live outside of the US?  Yes, you will be able to buy our merchandise on our website www.heruniverse.com. Our online store will be opening soon and we will be able to ship our merchandise to our international customers. However, we are only scheduled to attend US conventions in 2010. We have not finalized our 2011 convention schedule, but we will keep you updated if we set any international convention dates.

3.) What kind of jewelry can you expect from Her Universe? We will be offering two pendant necklaces in our first collection and they will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. The goal of our jewelry line is to provide you with everyday jewelry but also with replica pieces. We hope to recreate jewelry from the Movies and TV show with a slight Her Universe twist. Of all of the jewelry from Star Wars, what piece would you like to see us recreate first?

4.) Cosmetics and Lightsaber Lipgloss ?????? When I first started dreaming of creating this line a couple of years ago, one of the first ideas I had was to create a tube of lipgloss that looked like a lightsaber. Now that we have launched Her Universe I am definitely going to make that happen. However, I don’t have a time table, yet, for when it will be available. We hope to have it ready for sale in 2011. I also intend to follow-up it up with other creative pieces inspired by Star Wars. I will keep you updated :o )

5.) What conventions will we be attending in 2010? As we mention on our website, our first convention will be San Diego Comic-Con. We will also be attending Celebration V, Dragon-Con, Chicago Comic-Con and New York Comic-Con. Look for our Her Universe booth to begin your shopping experience! I will be at all of the conventions and I look forward to meeting everyone and signing autographs. While we are not set to sell our product at Disney’s Star Wars Weekends, I will be there the entire month hosting The Clone Wars: Behind The Force show, and I will be wearing our shirts to give you a sneak peek.

6.) How much will our t-shirts cost? I hold quality to the highest standard. I will not put a product out on the market if I wouldn’t personally use it or wear it myself. That being said, we are hard at work trying to offer you quality merchandise at affordable prices. Some of our prices are still being set, but we are trying to make our prices competitive with the other vendors. Look for our t-shirts to be in the $30-$35 range.

Thank you so much for offering plus sizes! I’m so excited about that!

    1. I just want to reiterate what a fantastic thing you are doing. When The X-Files: I Want to Believe movie was released in 2008, there was a huge surge in the fandom obviously. Hundreds of us showed up in London for the premiere… I knew that all of my attending friends were female, that the organiser of the charity screening of the movie was female, the creator and almost all of the contributors to a book of letters petitioning the studios to make the movie were female, and lo and behold, 80% of the people in the queue on the night were female… and yet the entire time we were there, journalists were baffled as to why so many women were showing up for what was viewed as being a sci-fi genre movie. Why had we made our own t-shirts? What little official merchandise remains is not sold in women’s sizes we explained… they looked even more blank.

I don’t understand how or why studios have failed to realise what a large role women play in fandom… so thank you for doing something about it!!! Also? I really hate pink… (Sorry, that all became a bit of a mini-rant hehe!)

    2. Count me in as a supporter of lightsaber lipgloss!!! XD

  3. Bridget says:

Of all of the jewelry from Star Wars, what piece would you like to see us recreate first? Princess Leia necklace from A New Hope!

  4. That’s a great range of sizes! I personally appreciate the XS. ;)

    I would buy lightsaber lipgloss!

  5. Amanda says:

Of all of the jewelry from Star Wars, what piece would you like to see us recreate first? I think you guys should make the necklace that anakin made for padme in the phantom menace!

  6. Oh! The jewelry: what about pendants of the Rebel Alliance and Imperial symbols? There’s lots of symbols to choose from, actually… :D

I would love to see rings. I liked the Imperial and Rebel logo rings they recently had up on SW shop, but was sad they were one: very large and two, done with consideration of male fans. Could we have something a bit more feminine (i.e. less bulky) for us female fans?

  8. Ellyn says:

Star Wars jewelry? I would wear a necklace with a pendant of Han’s blaster or Luke’s lightsaber (either one), maybe even both blaster and saber at once! Millennium Falcon, X-wing? Really, anything involving those two guys would be very cool :D Rebel/Imperial insignias would be cool, too.

  9. Rachel says:

I think it’d be cool if there was just a plain bracelet you could buy, and then have a large selection of Star Wars charms you can buy to go with it! :D

  10. amanda says:

I love the ideas of everything here! I’m only 15,but am in love with Star Wars. I was windering if in this line you ever considered doing halloween costumes or anything along those lines. I’ve tried to look for women Star Wars costumes, but all I find are boys or men costumes. I would really love to be able to show more girl Star Wars power next to all the guys.

  11. Valentina says:

Jewellery and pendants JEDI themed please!! :) Also would love the jewellery to be of high quality and not cheap silver :)

  12. Liz says:

Thank you for focusing on female fans of Star Wars! My daughter loves the show and we watch it together. Ashoka is her favorite character and I know she will be thrilled to be able to have a t-shirt to wear. For jewelry, I would also love to see the necklace Princess Lea wore in ‘A New Hope’.

  13. Anaria says:

I’d love to see Padme’s earrings from her ‘Leia Buns’ outfit in Ep3, and more jewelery with the Naboo logo :) And yes, Leia’s ANH necklace would be fantastic! :)

  14. Amy says:

For replica jewelry, I would love the Organa’s Ceremonial Necklace and the black beaded necklace scarf that Padme wears in Episode II (part of the black corset dress outfit).

And I hope you keep in mind the characters in the expanded universe too. It could be fun to have something like Mara Jade goggles. :)

  15. GirlPower says:

Are you going to sell the products in Argentina? Say yes please! I love Star Wars and I´m argentinian!

  16. starwarschick17 says:

Are they going to be available in stores, too?

  17. LtTracer says:

I have a few t-shirts that were XL that I bought from starwarshop.com and they have shrunk even without being put into the dryer so I can no longer wear them so thanks for the sizing! Jewelry is cool – Amidala had a lot of cool things. I’d like graphics of ships since I’m specifically an A-Wing fan – or a hoodie that was like a pilot’s jacket w/squadron markings. Since 1977 I’ve been known as ‘that Star Wars chick’ and really miss the Han-Leia-Luke in the corridor iron-on t-shirt I made in high school. Retro looks would be cool too.

  18. Hannah says:

ok i had a really good idea i guess its sort of along the lines of jewelry but maybe a hair clip of ahsoka’s padawan braid made with like stones or something really nice so it looks good in hair and not just some cheap plastic hair piece, i would buy that :D thanks, mtfbwy!

  19. michelle says:

awsome i will also be attending all the starwar weekend days at disney and can’t wait to see the shirts and i will try to attend celebration V so can’t wait yay i’m so excited

  20. lazypadawan says:

My credit card is locked and loaded for whatever Her Universe cranks out! I’m excited for the cosmetics line…Amidala Red lipstick, Leia’s 18-hour lip gloss, Skywalker blue eyeshadow, heh heh :) .

Jewelry? I think Leia’s ANH ceremonial necklace would be great but I’m not sure about potential intellectual property issues since the Finnish jeweler that made the necklace is still in business and still producing it (for $$$$). Padmé’s japor snippet necklace would be high on my list, as well as the earrings she wore during the “Ani, I’m pregnant” scene in ROTS. I’ve been looking for knockoffs of those for five years. I also love the chain headpiece Amidala wears during the parade scene in TPM. Very Renaissance Faire! As for non-replicas, I’d love an Alliance logo necklace/bracelet/ring and a necklace/bracelet/ring with Padmé Amidala’s royal sigil. I’m sure fans of the bad guys want an Imperial logo stuff.

  21. I was so excited to hear about this today, as I was literally just complaining about this LAST NIGHT. I was in Target with my brother, and they had all these cool graphic tees of great 80′s stuff, including Star Wars, Goonies, and other cartoon & comic characters. (If you ever branch out to comic books, I will be first in line.) they either never have stuff like that for girls, or if they do, it’s poor quality & made for girls with no curves (so thanks for the ample size selection!!).

I’m a fan of anything to do with Princess Leia (and Han Solo), but I think it could be fun to do some slightly snarky/tongue -in-cheek ones. For example, the only Star Wars apparel I have is a giant sweatshirt from Disney World that says “Jedi Training Academy.” I rarely wear it b/c it’s so bulky, but people always get a kick out of it when I do.

Looking forward to whatever you put out there, because this idea is LONG overdue. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  22. Stephanie says:

For the jewelry, DEFINITELY the necklace that Anakin made for Padme!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!

  23. Daisy says:

I love hoodies that look like uniforms. Pilot uniforms, stormtrooper uniforms…anything!

And I totally agree with everyone about pendants that look like ships. I think the shape of Y-wings would make a great pendant. And I’m a huge fan of Vader’s TIE fighter!

  24. Jedi Solo-sky says:

I am a young professional, and I think it would be awesome to have some chic star wars inspired business/professional clothing for women instead of just street clothes. Like, what would Amidala or Leia wear if she was the CEO of their own business?! Feminine, meets star wars, meets professional. I work in the high technology/video game industry so I think that being able to subtly show off some star wars street cred in my business attire would be great for my workplace and for many other women as well.

  25. Noelle says:

Let’s have some Padmé jewelry! I LOVE the idea of the japor snippet!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Ena Seyb says:

Finally, a good post about this subject Daytona.

  27. morganax says:

thanks for answering questions! great info 2 know ahead of time…still can’t wait to see the line! again…Obi Wan shirts???? I love Obi Wan if ya couldn’t tell!
I am loving the thought of necklace pendants…I can’t wait. I would love to see more prequel/clone wars stuff. not that i don’t love myself some original trilogy
but there is tons of stuff out there already. prequels don’t get their due respect!

  28. Mo says:

I am not a Star Wars fan, but my friend who told me about this is. As a Sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural fan in general, I had to come give you props for including plus sizes. It is EXTREMELY depressing to attend a convention and look at all the cool shirts, but have to settle for the doohickey when you’d rather have the shirt, but none of them are ever your size. THank you so much.

  29. audra says:

I’m a bit perplexed as to how offering up to a size XXL is catering to every woman. It’d be nice to see things in at least a 3x, even a 4x would be nice. An XXL is hardly enough for plus sized fans.

  30. Hi..I am reading your page for a few days now is there any way to subscribe by email

  31. elvenjedi14 says:

as far as jewelry goes, i really really really want a necklace with the rebel alliance symbol on it! it would be awesome if it was a simple black cord, and then if the logo was silver, it could even be a disk with the loge cut out of the center, that would be awesome! but not too big, like the size of a quarter so it could be worn for everyday use! also the jedi symbols, all of them, especially from the EU after episode six but still in luke’s time, that would be awesome! but definitely a bunch of stuff with the rebel logo on it, cause that is my all time favorite star wars symbol! i took a welding class and designed an awesome coat-hanger that was that logo with three hooks on the bottom and painted it black with white splatters that look like stars! it is so awesome! and its super awesome that you are doing this for us female fans! thank you so much! =D

  32. Luke Skywalker says:

What about a lightsaber necklace? In all four colors: blue, green, purple, and red! With black and white cords swisted and the lightsaber hanging down from it! Thanks for all you do, Ashley!

    ~Wanna-be-Luke Skywalker

  33. Diana says:

Please drop me a line when you’ve got ecommerce going. I know plenty of women will be thrilled at your plus offerings and i’d love to give you some coverage!

  34. Kimocean says:

Thank you for considering plus sizes! Body diversity is such a good thing!

  35. Jane says:

This sounds great so far! As for the jewelry, I’d LOVE to see Padmé’s japor snippet necklace that Anakin gave her. I’m also looking forward to the cosmetics.

  39. Ahsoka Wanna Be says:

Awesome, I’m so looking forward to them! =D I’ll also be getting jewlery, wish thet would be out by my B-day but that’s not going to happen. Anywho, and also lightsaber lip gloss, I’ll save money for that! You know what would be awesome? I see videos of Star Wars Weekends and someone dressed as Ahsoka. I wish I knew how they did the lekku, I want to make the full Ahsoka costume for Halloween this summer. It would be so fun! And if you could somehow sell some for us I would be thrilled, I can’t figure out how to do it. And Girl Star Wars costumes would be awesome. Maybe you should get some baby Girl T-shirts like “Little Youngling” I’d so get that for my neice! That would be so cute, anywho. I wish I could go to one of the conventions, I’d love to go and buy a T-shirt. I think Padme’s necklace Anakin gave her would be awesome, I’d wear it LOL. I think some Star Wars bags for us girls would be awesome, I’d get one! I love how you’re doing this for us. I love it all, thanks so much! Wish I could go to a convention, there all too far away, never in the West cost but hey, even if they were near I might not be able to go. Anyway, so glad you’re doing this! Are the T-shirts going into normal stores? I’d be so happy if I saw one instead of Twilight. I’m an anti I’m all for Star Wars! And also some earning that look like the ones in the Star Wars movies, I’d so get some and go to church or something in them. Some might work for Shakspeare plays that I do every year. Anywho, thanks again I’m so saving my money for them!

  57. I think your article was secretly a solid beginning to a potential series of blog posts about this topic. Most users pretend to comprehend what they are writing about when it comes to this topic and really, hardly anyone actually get it. You seem to really dominate it though, so I think you need to run with it. Thanks!

  58. It does seem that everybody is into this kind of stuff lately. Don’t really understand it though, but thanks for trying to explain it. Appreciate you shedding light into this matter. Keep it up

  62. One of the benefits of shopping online is that it helps consumer saves time. This suits the current lifestyle of most people who are rather busy and have difficulty finding time doing all their shopping at physical stores. With online shopping, they can cut down on their traveling time. Furthermore, if the product they want is not available in the physical store, they need to go to another store to find it. With shopping online, all these inconvenience can be avoided.

  63. I’ll admit, I am a bit of a Newbie when it comes to finding good articles on the net, but I found this article so I must be getting much better. Haha.
