Hi everyone! I am back to my blog after a much needed break this week. It was so nice to spend some time with family and friends after a busy month of August.
I just wanted to share something that has been on my mind ever since I overheard a conversation by two young sisters a couple weeks ago. I was carrying a Clone Wars mini backpack as my purse, I love the backpack because it has Ahsoka on it. While the backpack is clearly marketed towards little boys, there is no reason why a little girl could not carry it. One of the sisters, who was about to start kindergarten, said that she wanted my backpack for school. The other sister who was about to go into eighth grade, told the kindergartener that my Clone Wars backpack was for boys and that she needed to get a more girly backpack…………………………………….
This conversation made me think about all of the young girls in our Her Universe community that are going back to school this month. It made me think of all of the comments like these that are going to be hurled their way when they talk about Star Wars or sci-fi. I think about all of the girls that will feel like they have to hide their love of Star Wars because it is not cool or girly. I don’t envy their position, it’s not easy dealing with peer pressure. However, if I can give one piece of advice to our readers, it would be to go back to school with confidence. Be proud of who you are and what you like. One of the most attractive qualities you can posses is confidence. Other’s will gravitate to you if you have confidence in yourself. If a guy makes fun of you for liking Star Wars, he’s actually probably flirting with you. Most guys think it is cool that a girl is into the same things they are, they just don’t always have the best way of showing it. Trust me, they like it if you can prove that you can hang with the boys in a conversation. If another girl makes fun of you for liking Star Wars, she probably does not realize all that there is to love about it. She probably has not even given it a chance because of the stereotype, or, no one has ever taken the time to explain it to her. Star Wars is a conversation starter. If someone challenges you on why you love something, tell them why you love it and what makes it so great. Don’t make excuses for it. Be confident about it, you cannot force others to have the same likes as you, but they will appreciate your conviction. Be true to yourself. People will admire you for it. You may even make a new friend.
So girls, and guys (I know we have a lot of guys that are a part of our community and I know you deal with the same peer pressure) best of luck this year in school. Remember, just like Ahsoka had to study hard in the Jedi Temple to become Anakin Skywalker’s padawan, your hard work will pay off. As for the social scene, Be Yourself, Be Confident and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!
Ashley

I completely agree with you, Ashley. I went through school as a Star Wars fans and most of my friends were boys. : ) I had a few close girl friends but they never really “got” that part of me that loved Star Wars. But I made it through school without compromising, and made it through College doing the the same.
Most of my friends are now female Star Wars fans. I have a successful career and still I don’t hide my fangirlishness and my staff (I’m a manager) accept this goofy side of me. : )
You only get one life – go with what you love!
This reminds me of a conversation I was having somewhere else on the blog with KayleneSyberJedi. I said that I used to be very shy about my love of Star Wars because my parents tried to pressure me into liking more “girly” things. She told me to stick with my love of Star Wars and not be ashamed of it. I have learned that it is very important to not be ashamed of what you love, and not just Star Wars, but more important things like family and God. Thanks again Ashley, for inspiring me and many other fangirls.
I was a closet fan went to my all girls high school. It was towards my junior year that I started telling people that I liked Star Wars (that and my Chinese teacher who liked a lot also liked Star Wars a lot). At first they couldn’t get it, but by senior year I there were a lot of people who started having respect for me being me. During Halloween my senior year I dressed up as a jedi knight and my classmates gave me some mad props for doing so. Confidence is what is important, because trust me there is nothing more awkward than being the only Star Wars fan (open, maybe there were some closet fans too) at an all girls school.
Thank you for your wonderful words, Ashley! I am exactly in this situation, but I’ve never tought that I have to think about “girly” things. Star Wars is one of the best things I’ve ever seen, and I’m proud to say that I love it. No metter what the other say! Thank you for remind us how wonderful is to be a Star Wars fangirl.
You’re great, Ashley!
I am long past my school days, until I can swing the cost of going back to college. However, I recall very well my school days. I know I posted elsewhere about my first Star Wars lunchbox and the reactions I had over it. I never let that stop me. I would have several more Star Wars lunch boxes during my elementary school years. (I still have one of them, actually. It’s 30 years old.)
In high school, I had and used Return of the Jedi folders in my binder for my various classes. (And yes, I have most of them still too.) I even had a Return of the Jedi jersey that I traded for that I wore. I still have it, even though I have not been able to wear it for years. If I knew it’s exact location, I would permit my son to wear it, it should fit him by now.
I was tormented and harassed during my junior high and high school years because of my love of Star Wars and because I dared to be different. I had few friends because of that fact. I did not even have a boyfriend in high school until my senior year, and he was a new student to the school, and a year behind me so he had no idea of the opinion of the majority of my classmates. He even liked the fact that I was a fangirl.
It might take some time for it to happen, but you will eventually find people who will have no problems with your love of Star Wars. After I graduated high school and moved to Virginia, I found a group of friends who, even though the majority of them are male, accept me as I am. I’m one of them, inspite of my gender. To them I’m Kaidlen. They see me as a person with the same basic interests as them. I’m one of the guys. And I would not have it any other way.
I am on the other side of the coin from those of you who are in school, I’m a parent. I have a son whom I encourage his interests, as long as I deem that they are safe. However, I’m also an Aunt. I have two nephews and a niece. My niece is a girly girl. She loves the Disney Princesses. However, she’s also into Transformers, Bakugan, and Star Wars. And she has lots of encouragement and support where those interests are concerned. In fact, my niece made the most over my stuff that I got at Celebration V.
I dare anyone who tries to give my niece a hard time about being a fangirl. She’ll hurt them. And if she doesn’t, her brothers will.
I met some of my best friends in school because of our common interests – Star Wars being one of them! My Star Wars loving (girl) friends are fun and interesting and it makes me sad to think that some girls may be missing out on meeting their best friends because they are afraid to be proud of what they love! My advice to all the girls would be to be proud and show your Star Wars love, and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised with new Star Wars loving people you meet! I mean, if you both have that in common you have something to talk about right away!
My 5 year old daughter who just started Kindergarten has a Clone Wars Backpack and Ashoka is on it to with Obi-Wan and Anakin. A little boy in her class is who loves Star Wars is trying to be her friend but she is so shy at school. She came home upset the other day because she said people make fun of her having a Star Wars book bag and I told don’t let them, so what you have a boy book bag the girl across the street had a Batman book bag for two years and I think that made her feel better. I even have a Star Wars Messenger bag I take to school with me and Clone Wars folders! I just have to say being a fangirl is awesome and I love to show it! May the force be with you!
~Jen
I’m not so worried, I’ve started turning all my friends into starwars geeks, me and one of my friends are even planning a starwars day( we’re gonna watch all 6 movies and have a costume contest), and actually half the people that we actually know are coming are girls. And actually for my school orientation night me and my friend bekky went dresses as jedi XD (and we’re in eight grade) cuz it was our last year at the school so we wanted to be remembered as jedi. I used to be scared of showing i’m a geek, when i was in fifth grade i had a yoda lunch box and i turned it upside down so people couldn’t see. but now i just express my starwars love freely and others start wanting to know about starwars, even some of the popular girls are getting into starwars. I also don’t mind being a geek cuz most of the cute guys in my school are geeks, both me and my friend like geek guys(different guys not the same one, i would have to have a lightsaber fight over him if that happened;) ) and at my school beach party i was talking to my crush about starwars and ninjas, cuz he’s totally into ninjas. so i have a feeling this is gonna be a good school year and i think it’s great that your encouraging girls to show their love of starwars, because i know if they hide it one day they’ll regret it. May The Force Be With You! – hannah
Hey Mrs. Ashley Eckstein!
Thank you for the encouraging advice!
I’ve made a new friend because of my passion for Star Wars. When I met her in June, I talked to her about how you were helping to lead the charge for female fans and about Her Universe. Now I go to school with her and we have a common interest!
Mrs. Ashley, “You’re the one with the experience, which [we all are] looking forward to learning from.” -Ahsoka Tano
I can not thank you enough for Her Universe!
~Lillian Skye
Ashley, you impress me more and more…what a wonderful person you are to take the time to write this blog….and younglings out there……SHE IS RIGHT!
While I am a mother of 2 boys, this blog doesn’t apply to me so much…BUT I will say….one of the things my husband found cool/interesting about me when we met….was my love for the Wars!
But actually, sometimes things don’t go all away when you are older….being 37 and being as obsessed with Star Wars, if not more, then my kids….well, you can get some strange looks…but whatever….I hold true to my fandom.
And by the way Ashley……if I did have a little girl…I feel that Ahsoka is a WAY better role model for the next generation than say, a Bratz doll..so please keep it up! You are an inspiration, truly.
Absolute truth. And an idea for HerUniverse in the future! Can you imagine revolutionizing the world so dominated by LisaFrank
I know I was never one to blast my love until I was comfortable enough being me. I was the girl that sat back as the boys played the old school Star Wars card game, smiling a nodding. It’s time we raise up an empowered generation of female fans, proud to be who they are! Love the fact that you are leading the charge and cannot wait to see/talk with you at Dragon*Con! Thanks again!
Thank you Ashely!!! You have encouraged me a lot! I wore my Star Wars Burnout to my science class, and I got a completment! I was very proud of it.
I’m a rather shy person when it comes to talking to people face to face. And only my closest friends know that I am a Star Wars geek. I’ve always been timid about saying: “Yes, I’m a Star Wars fan” or “I love Star Wars!” because I am a girl.
But I do know what you said is true about guys knowing that I do love Star Wars. Because in one of my classes conversation, I spoke up (big shock! But I was tired of being shy and quiet) when I guy said that “I can talk Star Wars” and I told him (and practically everyone else) “I can talk Star Wars too. Even though I’m a girl.” His reaction (it was kinda hard to tell) was surprise, and I even think he was even pleased in a guy sort of way. It turned out, that he didn’t even tease me about it, but rather, he was nice to me.
So, I will stand tall for my fandom of Star Wars and not be afraid!
Thank you sooooooooooooooo much for the encouragment, Ashely!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t thank you enough!
~Luke Skywalker
Well, I’m in middle school right now and I sorta hid my love of Star Wars last year when I told my friend that it was Star Wars day (May 4th) and she told me I was starting to sound like my younger brothers. After that I haven’t mentioned anything to anybody about Star Wars. After I started reading the HU blog, I decided that I am not the only Jr. High Female Star Wars Fan out there, and now I am going to go the store tomorrow and buy myself a Star Wars lunch box and I won’t regret it!
Heck yes, Ashley! I’m a public librarian and any time I have to help a younger reader who wants Star Wars books, I tell them I’m the expert in the library and the parents usually laugh, but then I tell the kids that they are my favorite movies of all time and the kids realize that it’s okay to be proud of something like that (and they always feel comfortable coming back to me for more help later on!).
I have found so many friends since professing my love of Star Wars and all things “geeky” so I always encourage people to talk about about the things they love no matter how “silly” or “uncool” they think it might be.
Back in 1977, I wanted a Star Wars lunchbox. Unfortunately, so did my younger brother. Since he was a boy and my mom thought it was more of a “boys” lunchbox, he got it. I rarely got Star Wars toys. Yet, it wasn’t all that unusual during that time period to be a girl who liked Star Wars. I remember when ROTJ came out when I was in junior high school, everybody saw it and everybody talked about it. Even the popular girls
.
Maybe it’s different now but as far as I’m concerned, SW is for everybody. I could write a book about how they’ve missed the mark on specifically marketing to girls, which reinforces the idea SW is “only” for boys.
I hear ya lazypadawan….but i do have to say…i had a SWEET huffy princess leia bike when i was a kid..banana seat and all! Funny thing is Star Wars has always had strong female role models. Look at Leia for goddess sake! Really did miss the mark at times for the females, but that seems to be changing.
Hello Ashely I live in Taiwan, and I will get into college in just days. Taiwan isn’t like Hong Kong, Japan or other Asian countries, we don’t have many star wars fans here, not to mention fangirls. Taiwanese just can’t get into anything about Sci-fi. But I’ve been a star wars fangirl ever since I watched these movies about six years ago. I like this website very much though it’s not the first SW fangirl website, I think you’ve done a wonderful job for girls. My only suggestion is that since many girls like me are still in school, maybe you can design a girly, fasionable and very SW book bag for us? or purse, toiletry bag? Things that can not only show our love for Star Wars but also go with our dresses and skirts well. That will be wonderful:)
I wore my Padmé shirt to my first day of co-op. I got a compliment from one person, “I really like your shirt.” Of course, I also got, “Who’s the big person in the middle?” “That is Padmé. You know, ME?!”
In my history class, we were being introduced by our partner, and then our teacher asked us what we could tell about each person by the facts that had been introduced. I was easily labled “A Star Wars Geek”. But it wasn’t in a mean way at all; rather, it was kind of like they thought it was cool.
I am homeschooled, and the peer pressure doesn’t amount to much (but there is still some). I’m proud of being homeschooled, because it gives me more time to devote to cultivating my love of theater. Classes start back up tomorrow!!!
Also, please check out the blog my friend and I are writing (A Lightsaber and a Script; it combines our two loves: Star Wars and Theater). http://www.lightsaberandscript.blogspot.com
~Padmé Skywalker
I absolutly love HER UNIVERSE its like amazing!
I start school today so i wish i could of got one of those backpacks sooner oh well
Thanks ashley
~Star Wars Fan 1
Thanks Ashley! I’m homeschooled, and a lot of the girls in our homeschool group like Star Wars!
I’ve made a lot of friends because of our shared love of Star Wars. And I love to start a conversation by asking, “Do you like Star Wars?”. I can also talk to a lot of boys because we all like Star Wars. It’s really fun being a Star Wars fangirl! Thanks for making it even better with Her Universe!
Thanks Ashley. I think thats way cool! I just recently saw the clone wars back pack at the store and it looked so little boyish. I was just wishing they had a cooler more stylish bag. I compeltly agree. When I told my bff that I was really into star wars she said “Ew maddy! Star Wars is for boys!!” Of course I ignored the rude remark. Then I showed her her universe and she said she was thinking about getting a shirt for herself. I also got her to watch clone wars one friday nite, and when texted her she sent me a text that read ” Star Wars is AWESOME!!” So now shes a bit of fan. Thanks again for doing this ashley!!
Oh and RachelisaJedi, Im homeschooled too!! I also met a girl who love star wars too! and shes homeschooled!! gald we have something in common!!
WHOOOOO! Go homeschoolers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We should band together.
~Padmé
Wow! So nice to see how Ashley is inspiring so many people! I’ve stoped hiding the fact that I’m a Star Wars fan, and things are going really well. This weekend I was at a church retreat and a bunch of other girls and I were talking about Star Wars, they were so friendly and accepting; we were all friends in no time. I’m so much happier now and spend all my free time sitting in my room surrounded by my Star Wars posters and legos with my Clone Wars dvd blaring in the background. My mom even made a comment today on how she’s glad that I’m interested in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings instead of going around telling everyone that I’m pregnant like a girl in my Life Management class is doing (no one even knows if she’s serious or just joking).
So for anyone who is still a little unsure about the idea of showing off your love of Star Wars, just remember, a true friend will accept you for who you are.
Two years ago on my birthday I watched my first episode of the Clone Wars. I friend I had made that year had kind of hidden the fact she liked Star Wars until a few weeks before my birthday. I really didn’t think that I would like it. She started explaining the whole synopsis of Star Wars to me. I was pretty impressed. Then on my birthday I woke up feeling very sick, but we had a field trip for school that day, so I said to myself that I wasn’t feeling bad enough to stay home so I stuck it out and went to school. Me and my fairly new friend were riding together in the same car and she had the first episode of Clone Wars on her iPod so she played it for me and I was amazed!! It actually made me feel better!! Now I know practically anything about Star Wars and a little on the Expanded Universe. I just can’t believe that one day can change your life forever! I’m actually getting my other friend to watch it since she’s never seen it!! I’m just proud to be a Star Wars fangirl!!
i love star wars but everyone in my school hates it so if i would carry enything that had to do enything with star wars i would be made fun of for life (i am already made fun of now because i am sooooooo quite in school) but i wish one of my classmates in my school would talk about or like it (if enyone did their hiding it) because when i read a star wars book i cant bring it to school so i have to wait to get home to read it (i might tell my bff that i like star wars i knew her since kindergarden so i trust her)
Ashley, don’t be afraid to show that you are a Star Wars fan. You might end up giving someone else the courage to proclaim that they’re also one, and happen to be hiding it like you are. People are always going to find a reason to make fun of you, no matter what. I was teased for more than just my love of Star Wars. I didn’t wear clothes that were the height of fashion, or expensive name brand shoes. My first pair of designer jeans (which were Jordash at that time) were bought at a consignment shop. My first pair of Nikes were given to me, and they had been slightly chewed on by a dog. You have to be true to yourself. If you hide who you are because of being afraid of being teased, you will always have a hard time with fitting in. One of my co-workers tries to tease me even now because of my love of Star Wars, and he know nothing of it, except the name of Darth Vader. I don’t let it bother me. In fact I tell him that he should be glad that I’m not Vader, because I would Force choke him. (He happens to be a pain in the butt, and I’m not the only one who thinks that. Others don’t like him either.) You should never let others dictate what you like and dislike. There is one thing that I’ve taken to heart that comes from Star Trek- the Vulcan philosophy of IDIC, which stands for Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. What it boils down to is to live and let live. If everyone were to follow that, things would be so much better everywhere.
And I can tell you that there is no way that you can be made fun of for life. You will eventually graduate and move on and move away. You’ll find new friends and peers. I speak from first hand experience on that.
As for having to wait until you get home from school to read your Star Wars books, there is a way around that if they’re paperbacks. When I was in high school, my father used to get on my case all the time for having my nose in a book. I was given a quilted book cover with handles and an attached bookmark that fit over the cover of a paperback book. I made good use of it, and would slip it on every book I was reading, including novels I was assigned to read for my classes. My father would start to get on my case for reading, and I would tell him that I was reading something for school. Most of the time I was lying to him, and was reading a book that I either got from the library or was one of my own. Now I’m not saying that lying is a good thing, however, it was the one way I could read to my heart’s content and not get in trouble for it. You might want to see if you can find a cover for your novels if you don’t wish to be seen reading a Star Wars book.
May the Force be with you, Ashley, and lot’s of Luck.
OMGoodness!! Maddy, Noelle, and RachelisaJedi, I am also Homeschooled and most of my friends think I am a total geek for liking Star Wars. My one friend was at a party with me and announced to the whole group that I was completely obsessed with Star Wars and shouted “Geek Alert!” to everyone. My other friend actually liked my Padme’ shirt and asked me how Anakin and Darth Vader were the same person. I ended up telling her the entire saga and she actually wanted to know! We may have the beginning of a new fan. Homeschoolers Rock!! I am so excited to see other girls who like Star Wars so much! Noelle is right, we should band together!
May the Force be With You,
Jedi~Chick
ashley, don’t be afraid to be yourself and show your love of Star Wars. I’m sure you’re not the only one in the whole school who likes Star Wars. When I was in 7th grade, on the first day of school our teacher asked us to share a TV show that you like that not many people would guess you watch. About half of the class said that they like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, even the “cool jocks” and the “popular girls”. If people make fun of you, it’s probably because they’re jealous. I get made fun of because people are jealous that I take a high school math class and make good grades, but I just ignore those people. You should tell your best friend that you like Star Wars, she won’t make fun of you. Maybe you could convince her to watch it and she will end up liking Star Wars.
Homeschoolers ROCK! So does STAR WARS!!!
There should be like a web-site were us Star Wars crazy homeschoolers could meet!
~Luke Skywalker
Ofcourse boys think it’s cool when girls likes Star Wars
that’s like the ultimate girl for me
When you find a nice, beauitful, cool girl that also likes star wars … then ther’s nothing left to ask for
Ashley u really encouraged me not to be afraid of being a star wars geek! And i am so glad that i can show the world that i am so proud to be a star wars fan! By the way i cannot wait for season 3 i am so excited!
Yay! More homeschoolers! There should be a website where all us crazy homeschoolers can meet. Good idea Luke Skywalker!
Ashley, you have shown me that there really are other fangirls like me and I have no reason to be embarrassed for liking Star Wars. Thanks for all you do…
May the Force be With You,
Jedi~Chick
Homeschooled, Star Wars fangirls unite!
Being homeschooled is definitely awesome! Over the years, I’ve unearthed a few Star Wars fangirls at co-ops, private homeschools, and events. Sometimes, it is hard to lure them out of their shell, but with the expansion of Her Universe, I hope more girls will step out of their personal shadows of embarrassment. We have nothing to hide! We should not be ashamed of our passions!
Here is a quote that I like:
“Never let the odds keep you
from pursuing what you know in
your heart you were meant to do.”
Fangirls, doesn’t that remind you of Han Solo when he
exclaimed, “Never tell me the odds!”?
Take charge! Stand up for what we believe in! We were meant to revolutionize the world for future female fans. That quote not only applies to a galaxy far, far away. We can pursue our dreams, our careers, and our goals in life. People everywhere are always saying how certain goals are impossible. Here’s the reality, girls: It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard. Impossible is not a word, it’s just a reason for someone not to try. Sure, we may be girls. You know what? Girls rock.
If we follow our passions, even if we are not the best in our field, our enthusiasm and dedication to our work will shine forth.
So let’s go out into the world, change the way people think about female fans, show the world that we are not only proud Sci-Fi ‘Sisters of the Force,’ but that when we put our minds to something, we can accomplish anything, no matter the odds.
There is strength in numbers!
Thanks for reading. I hope you were encouraged!
~Lillian Skye
Lillian Skye, I couldn’t have said it better myself!
Wow Lillian Skye, great job!!!! My heart started fluttering when I read that because it reminds me so much of a letter my teacher wrote to me last weekend. She used those same words “It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard. Impossible is not a word. It’s just a reason for someone not to try.” That is actually a line from one of her favorite songs What Faith Can Do. You are absolutely right. We can change the world. Women have just as much of a voice as men do. A million thanks to Ashley Eckstein for starting this off. All we needed was a push forward.
P.S. Btw, soooooo excited for season 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m counting down the days.
Rock On Lillian Skye!!!!! There IS strength in numbers!! We shouldn’t hide! I hope to find some homeschooled fan girls tomorrow when i go to a Homeschool P.E. Class. Through homeschooling I have discovered Star Wars, made more friends and had more fun than I did in regular school. Homeschoolers are awesome!!!
I ♥ Homeschooling!
I ♥ Star Wars!!
May the Force be with you,
Jedi~Chick
I scared a guy in my drama class yesterday when I freaked out over the lightsaber my friend was pretending to hold. He was like, “I didn’t know there were girl Star Wars Geeks.” He just needs to get on here.
Sorry about us taking over, Ashley, but it’s awesome and amazing to find other homeschooled *girl* Star Wars fans besides myself and Luke.
We need to have a get-together or something.
~Padmé

I have been reading tons of them from the library but hope to get some books to own on my b-day.
I’m homeschooling 9th grade!
I’m not surprised to find that I’m the oldest….AGAIN!
My pastor recently gave me 21 books, and he has two more shelves to go through. I’ll be set.
I’m currently in a race to finish Wedge’s Gamble before tonight…..it has to go back to the library.
I really hate to be filling up Ashley’s comments like this, and so this will probably be my last comment for this blog post. If you want to keep talking, comment on the blog my friend Qui-Gon and I are writing. The web address is http://www.lightsaberandscript.blogspot.com
Also, please call me Padmé on there. Thanks.
~Padmé
I’m glad you said that Padme’ i was starting to get a guilty conscience for using up Ashley’s blog for stuff that isn’t Her Universe. I’m finishing up Jedi Apprentice #9 tonight because it also has to go back to the library. I wish I knew someone who had all the books. My mom used to have tons of SW stuff when she was a kid and gave it all away. I got so mad at her everytime at CV when she said “I had that!” I was like, why didn’t you save any of it!!!! I’ll definitely check out your blog Padme’.

May the Force be with You,
Jedi~Chick
Ashley, this post inspired me to wear my only Star Wars shirt to school the other day and I actually got 2 compliments on it!
On the note of this conversation, anyone else read the Clone Wars Gambit books? If your Anakin obsessed (like me) or Obi Wan obsessed then you’ll enjoy those books
Yes, I’m breaking my thing not to post again……but, it’s a book.
I’m reading Siege now!!!!!!!!!
They’re both REALLY good! I love how the author has the banter between Ani and Obi.
~Padmé SKYWALKER
Sory Jedi~Chik I ment to E-mail that to my friedn. sry
Noelle this is sooooooo awesome that you are a christien ( I am assuming) I am a christien too do you live in Little Rock AR? If so we can get together?!
We totally need to create a forum. We really shouldn’t use this blog to talk back and forth.
No Problem Lizzy. I finished my book last night! It was really good. I started Jedi Apprentice Special Edition, The Followers. It’s really good so far. i like that Part One is Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Part Two is Obi-Wan and Anakin. I’m so excited, my friend came to me yesterday and was like, “look at my phone, look at my phone!!!” I looked at it and her screensaver was prequel Anakin. She’s like isn’t he just soooo cute?!? I was excited because now I turned one of my best friends into a fan. I explained to her the saga last week and within four days she watched all six movies!! I’m definitely going to tell her this site!
May the Force be with You,
Jedi~Chick
Thank you so much!!! That was just what i needed. I have been in school only a couple days and already i’m getting pressure about liking Star Wars as a girl. It’s tough, and i totally sympathize with any kids in the same situation. Thanks for reminding me to stick it out and be confident in what i like, Ashley! (I think i’m going to put a SW poster at my desk… he, he
) MTFBWY,
Jessica (obilover)
I think a star wars bag for girls would be great! i would sooo buy one and carry it. it would be cool with Ahsoka or Padme on it, or Aayla Secura and Shak Ti on it (pleeeaaaaassssseeeeee!!!!????)
i hate the sterotype that boys are the only star wars fans. i know girls who like star wars, and i hate the way we are overlooked. please, please, please make us a bag!!!!
thatnks for the awesome clothes and the cool rebel alliance necklace. thanks a lot Ashley!!!!
I was at a homeschool art class today and this little 7 year old boy and I were talking. he was telling me about all his game systems during break-time and then said that his mom rented the clone wars game. I said that I loved Star Wars and the Clone Wars and that it was so cool. He looked at me and laughed and said, but you’re a girl. I happened to be wearing my Padme’ shirt and i said look at my shirt! He smiled and said you have Anakin on your shirt!!
Funny Huh?!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
BTW, I would definitely carry a SW bag of any kind. One with Ahsoka on it would be great! Padme’ and Anakin would be awesome. Thanks Ashley!!! I LOVE Her Universe!!!
Hey Ashley! I have a suggestion
You know how the twihards have Team Edward shirts and such? Well how about a Team Skywalker shirt, so it’s universal between Anakin fans (like me <3) and Luke fans! That'd be so cool case I'm looking for anything Anakin!
Your so great for doing this line!
Padawanofanakin, Thats a great idea!! My friend loves twilight and I can’t stand it, so when she asked me if i was team Edward or team Jacob, I told her Team Skywalker!! She looked at me like I was crazy, but her sister (a SW fan) laughed and high-fived me! I love that Idea, I would soooo buy that!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
i got the star wars burnout tee and the rebel alliance necklace in red, and i’m sooooo going to wear them to school A LOT! i think a team Anakin shirt would be hilarious. I <3 anakin, but luke is okay too.
or you could do a Team Obi-Wan. LOL!!!
i love heruniverse. i'm sooooo glad fangirls are finally being recognized. thank you a lot, ashley. now i can wear a tee shirt that show my fangirl-ism instead of just saying it.
Team Anakin shirt, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~Padmé, the Ultimate Team Anakin Girl
I love the team shirt idea!!!! I would probably be team Anakin!
Don’t forget team Captain Rex!
I would wear a Team Skywalker or a Team Jedi shirt.
Wow thanks for liking my idea everyone
TOTALY TEAM ANAIKIN!!!!!!!!
oh my gosh, yes! a team captian rex shirt! i would so buy it and a team anakin shirt.
– rex and anakin forever
I think that’s so cool, Team Captain Rex! I would probably get that, Anakin or Luke, and Han Solo!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
Han is AWESOME so Jedi~Chick I know you like to rean SW books. Have you read Desteny’s Way? It is awesome!!!!!!!! P.S. there is a cool draling of the SW galixey on the inside cover!!!!!!
MTFBWY,
Lizzy
Lizzy, I haven’t read it, but I will definitely look it up! Thanks! Have you read the Rise and Fall of Darth Vader? That was such a good book! I want to get the next one, The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
There clearly needs to be girl school supplies! Her Universe, get on this at once! Heck, I’d love a cute Ewok backpack and I’m 22! But seriously, Clone Wars needs pink Padme and Ahsoka merchandise for girls – I doubt anyone would make fun of a girl with a Star Wars backpack if it was pink with girls on it, right? (Though it’s a shame they’d be made fun of anyway. Urgh, society.)
No I haven’t read that one Have you read the Hair to the Empire triloge, Specyor of the past, and visions of the future? they are by Timothy Zahn. Oh I also read Survivors Quest that was by him too.
Janie, no pink. Purple or a soft, feminine blue instead. Want to avoid the pink treatment. However, having the ladies of Star Wars on it is a good idea. The Ewok backpack idea is a good one too.
No I haven’t read any of those. My birthday’s coming up soon so I’ll ask my mom and dad to get them for me! Thanks for all the good book ideas! I’ll look into them. So far I’m reading Jedi Quest and Jedi Apprentice because they have most of them at the library. They are pretty good.
MTFBWY<
Jedi~Chick
There’s nothing wrong with pink. It would be nice if you could offer the shirts in more colors. That way we could decide which color would look best on us or if we would like a pink or blue or whatever.
I wouldn’t want anything pink. It would be great if she offered a product in pink for the people who want it in pink, but I would prefer she offered it in different colors as well so that those of us who don’t want pink can have a different option. I totally agree with the school supplies idea!!! I would definantly buy an Ahsoka binder or backpack!
I would totally buy anything Ahsoka! There’s nothing out there. I looked so hard to find an Ahsoka folder for school and couldn’t find anything. Pink is a little “girly” but we kinda want that right? I’d like Hot Pink with other colors. No frills or anything! MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
NO PINK YES SCHOOL SUPLIES~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jedi Chick, it is so hard for me to find anything with Ahsoka on it! I don’t get why that is because she’s such a popular character. I agree with what you said about maybe hot pink with other colors and no frills!
Dutchess Satine Kenobi, (BTW I love your name!) I know!! I found an Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, Yoda, even Ventress folders but no Ahsoka. I was frustrated because she is so popular and she’s my favorite! I think that we should show off that we are girls with a little hot pink, but too much pink would be overboard. What do you think Ahsoka would say about the stereotype of girly pink?!?
“I’m a Jedi Knight!…Or soon will be.”
-Ahsoka Tano
(But you all knew that right!)
May the Force be with You,
Jedi~Chick
Have to chime in again!!!!!!!!!!
I agree that Star Wars isn’t frilly and pink, but some of its fans are. **clears throat**
I think Her Universe should have some girly girl stuff.
~Padmé
Yeah, I agree Noelle.
Jedi Chick, I agree. Hot pink with blue. Not too much pink because people wouldn’t take us seriously. I laughed about what you said with Ahsoka and the girly pink stereotype.
Btw, just need to say that I am SO excited for season 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom keeps teasing me because I am obsessing over it. I even got a picture of Shaak Ti on my phone yesterday. But sadly, I will be out of town the weekend that it airs. It will be really hard to wait two more days to see it! Why me?!
We don’t get cable but my grandma whose house we will be at dose soooooooooooo i am soooooo excited that I will ge able to watch it!
Now I am even more excited because I was looking through the news for Her Universe and I found a new interview about Season 3 that included clips from both new episodes. It looks so epic!!!!!!!!!You get to hear Shaak Ti’s voice. She sounds really cool. I love it when they bring people like her into the Clone Wars. She will show everyone that girls can kick butt too!
Those are some great words Ashley. Im a huge fan. I used to have friends that didnt like star wars i tried to show them how cool it is but they were to girly girl to understand the love i put in star wars. We are practically fighting a battle to show that us girls can be fans to. All i can say is bring on the clankers(aka the people say we cant be fans or that we are weird)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets go show everyone what us star wars fan girls are made of. Lets show them we are also star wars geeks. God made us all different.LONG LIVE STAR WARS! May the force be with you.
I got so many comments on my Star Wars burnout tee and Rebel Necklace (nothing negative) when i wore them to school. “star Wars! Awesome!” “Cool tee shirt!” “What’s your necklace for? Oh cool!”
let the fangirl rebellion rise!
i told EVERYONE about Heruniverse. and i’m the only one at my school with this stuff so far!
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU…. ALWAYS.
I am super excited for season 3!!!!! My family is having a small (but super exciting) Clone Wars Season Premiere Party. I can’t wait!! #1ahsokafan, Loved your comment, well written and so true! Bring on the clankers!!
May the Force be With you,
Jedi~Chick
I’m freaking out cause next week:
1. New star wars insider!
2. Clone wars adventures!!!
And
3. Season 3!!!!!!!
I walked into where I work last week wearing my Luke t-shirt. I got asked who’s face was that plastered over my chest. I responded Luke Skywalker. She shook her head and face-palmed, and I grinned. I then told her that I got it from Her Universe. She shook her head even more.
Padawanofanakin, you can go ahead and sign up for The Clone Wars Adventures Beta testing. I have been playing it for a week or two. It is so much fun!
Thanks so much Jedi~Chick. That means alot to me. Im so excited about swtcw season 3 premire its going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Oops forgot to add somthing im homeschooled to!!!!!!! Its awesome to know homschooled girls are star wars fans to. May the force be with you.
Clone Wars Adventures is pretty cool, but it’s kind of boring without getting a membership…..I can’t get a blue lightsaber.
SEASON THREE IS EIGHT DAYS AWAY. I CAN’T WAIT.
Oh, and if we post 4 more comments, that will make this one of the popualar posts. Go homeschoolers for making this happen!
~Padmé
Yeah I know about the Beta but I’m waiting for the real opening
And sorry Ashley for filling your post with comments
haha noelle GO HOMESCHOOLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!! Only 8 days I can’t wait!!!! While I was at CV I went to Dave Filoni’s Season 3 spoiler panel and it is going to be so cool!! I can’t believe how many homeschoolers there are on this blog. I’m trying to convince my parents to possibly let me have my own so we won’t fill up Ashley’s. My computer is an older model so most games don’t work on our computer, but I’ll look at the CW Adventures. Go Homeschoolers!! My best friend is a new fan, and she is also homeschooled. We are making this one of the most popular posts… Just a few more comments!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
GO HOMESCHOOLERS!!!!!!!
ok, im homeschooled too, my bestest buddy Lizzy(Ashley) made me get on
(: luv ya Ashley
oh thanks page.
Bring on the clankers!!!!!!!! Today I finally stood up to a group of girls who have been making fun of me not just for my love of Star Wars, but for everything else and they have been doing it for three years. I won’t go into detail but I will say that they will not be messing with me anymore. By the way, ONLY EIGHT MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sooooo excited! I’m dying of excitement!
Way to go Satine!!! Good for You, be proud of your fangirlism!!!
I am way excited for Friday!!! I can’t wait!!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
WooHoo satine. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!! cwtffs3
YAY, Satine!!!!!!!!!!!
Wooo hooo!! Stand up for yourself Satine!! Wooo hoo!
Thanks! You are all so sweet!!!!!!!!
Okay, I went to the library to check out some SW books, and I always get embarrissed when my dad says that I’m checking SW books out or something. I sometimes feel like every eye is on me. I always hide the covers of the books. When I check them out I always look away. It would be easier if I were to just give my dad a list of the books I want. (SIGH)
Leia, when I was in second grade, I loved the tv show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I had a ninja turtle lunchbox that I would always try to hide because I was embarresed. Now, looking back, I realize that there were a lot of people who also liked that show, but I was too focused on how embarressed I was to realize it. Dont’ be embarressed because there are probably loads of people in the library who like Star Wars. Maybe you’ll even make a new friend because they see you checking out Star Wars books and you could become friends through your love of Star Wars.
You go Satine!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats so awesome you stood up for yourself!!!!!! I was the same way when I was in public school Leia Skywalker. Now i can feel like i can shout to the world that im a star wars fan thanks to Ashley its nothing to be afraid of. May the force be with you!
Wow, Leia, I am just like that!!! Every time I go to the library I feel so embarrassed when I am tearing apart the shelves looking for SW books. I feel like everyone is staring at me and that they are all thinking about how strange I am. I do just what you do, I hide the covers, turn when other people walk by and look away at check out. Sometimes our library has self checkout so I don’t have to show anyone else the books. I do the same thing at the bookstore. My cousin constantly tells me how obsessed I am and that I need to get a life. Oh, how that adds to my self esteem! *sarcasm*
We really have nothing to be embarrassed about Leia, we are fangirls and we should be proud. Thanks Satine and #1ahsokafan, you’re right. Maybe we’ll make friends or at least impress a few boys!
May the Force be with You,
Jedi~Chick
I’m reading a really great book right now called ‘Do Hard Things’ by Alex and Brett Harris. When I started reading it (because I like inspiration on overcoming the odds of this world), the quote on the back REALLY stood out to me. I wanted to share it because it reminded me of this blog, Mrs. Ashley’s post, and all the fangirls who are sharing their personal stories about their Star Wars passion.
It says:
“Most people don’t expect you to understand what we’re going to tell you in this book. And even if you understand, they don’t expect you to care. And even if you care, they don’t expect you to do anything about it. And even if you do something about it, they don’t expect it to last. We do.”
(That was written by the two teenage brothers.)
One of situations it reminded me of is how Mrs. Ashley understood the need for fangirl fashion. She cared about it, too. Not only did she care, but she took a stand to start something new. Now it is OUR job, fangirls, to make it last!
Come on, fangirls. We will do the hard things (such as proclaiming our fandom even in embarrassment) together.
Thanks for reading my post!
~Lillian Skye
Jedi~Chick, I actually like to use the self checkout, but guess what. Today it just so happened to be out of order. (SIGH) Oh well. I think I’ll eventually grow out of it. At least I hope. LOL
Lillian Skye that is so awesome ive read do hard things to its a really great book. I loved that book.
Lillian Skye, you always write really inspiring messages. You are absolutely right. Ashley started this off and it’s up to us to make it last.
Wow, Lillian Skye, you’re comments make me feel so proud to be a fangirl. My mom has the Do Hard Things Book and she just gave it to me so I can read it. We got it a Homeschool Convention a few years ago and she read it then but I didn’t. Now I want to! Thank you for writing such inspiring posts. Leia, I know what you’re saying with self checkout. If our library wasn’t closed today I would be going there and getting some more books! Maybe tomorrow my mom will take me. I want to get some more Jedi Quest books!
May the Force be With you All,
Jedi~Chick
It’s good to know there are people out there who understand what I was talking about. I suppose I need to try to not be as embarrissed. It don’t matter what other people think anyway.
Yea, me too. I guess I really don’t have anything to embarressed about. We should be proud to be fangirls!!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
Hehe, I’ve been labeled a Star Wars Fanatic at drama by the guys in my class.
~Padmé
Hey girls. If you are interested in a nice, fun place to chat, check out The Underworld forum. It has lots of topics there along with a chatbox that only members can use. You can create a free account and chat all you want.
I just thought I would invite you girls since we all kinda like talking. Click on my name to check it out. It’s pretty obvious who I am on the forum. I’m Leia there too.
-Leia
Ashley- thank you so much for all that you do. you make me smile.
Sorry i haven’t been on I am on Vacation. I feel so disconected from ya’ll
Sorry i haven’t been on I am on Vacation. I feel so weird
Well, don’t feel weird.
Yeah, Have fun on Vacation Lizzy, you can catch up when you get back!
MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
Hope you have fun on your vacation Lizzy!
I am still on vaca BUTT I am watching SWtCW tonight TOTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is so true i’m 13 and i wore the luke skywalker t-shirt to school.I ABSOLUTELY love luke! he is my most favorite! but all the people at school were like who is that on ur t shirt? i had to anwser alot! but i don’t care luke is my favorite!
I know I’m late on the comment, but I’ve been busy. Anyway, thanks for the sweet message. I used to hide my liking about Star Wars but I can’t anymore and I don’t want to. I actually seem to talk to boys allot more than I used to. I’m homeschooled and I go to co-op’s so I do meet fellow homeschoolers. I’ve met boy Star Wars fans, but not girls. It’s hard for me to find fellow girl fans, but I have met one at a Homeschooling Youth Conference and it was a blast. The fellow fangirl and I were just chatting on Facebook about Star Wars and we were both fangirling. We both love Anakin in the Pilot uniform in Senate Spy, I so want a shirt with Anakin the Naboo Pilot Uniform. I know you’ve heard it on other places but that’s me commenting on multiple places.
Anyway, my little brother got a Clone Wars backpack and shirt and I said to him “I so want that shirt, I so need a Star Wars backpack.” It’s not easy for us girls to get that. It’s hard for me to hand around some girl’s, they think I only like SW but I don’t. I like more, SW is something I’m just really passionate about. And I’m able to express it better thanks to you with the tee shirts. And I don’t have to always have a lightsaber. And the story of the girl’s and the backpack is interesting to me, I just went into 8th grade this year, and to think girl’s my age think that SW is a boy thing is sorta offensive. And I’m not a tomboy; I’m actually a Girly-Girl. I love to shop, the color pink, and to talk about boys. And Star Wars is a big interest of me and I still love to be girly. I go Girly-Girl while watching or talking about Star Wars. When I saw Anakin in the S3 premiere I squealed like a girly-girl. But I do go to classes with confidence proudly wearing my Ahsoka Chibi shirt. I go into Youth Group with confidence, I go out feeling the same way. And if I had a Star Wars mini backpack or bag I’d use it as a purse without hesitation. At my Tuesday co-op during lunch last week I was talking with a boy in my class and I told him how much I love Star Wars and a bit about why, and he said to me “I wish my sister was like you.” And that really touched me; boys want to talk with girls about Star Wars. I love Star Wars and I’m proud of it! Thanks for everything Ashley, you’re the best! You’re my favorite actress, and Ahsoka’s really inspired me in my young teenage life. Thanks so much! I need to stop rambling. Thank you for everything.
Love,
~♪♥AhsokaWannaBe Ria SkyguysSkygirl♥♪~
LOL You’re not the only SW lovin’ girl out there,AhsokaWannaBe Ria SkyguysSkygirl. When I read a SW book, I use a bright pink bookmark. LOL It’s harder to be a SW girly girl because most girly girls don’t like SW. If you were to see me you would be like, “YOU like SW?!” Arg. I read an interview today and it was something like no wonder young boys and some adults that are young at heart love TCW! I’m like, Ummm, girls watch it too, ya know.
-Leia
Whoops. On the first line I ment to put SW lovin’ girly girl. Not just girl.
-Leia
It is hard being a fangirl. But it is also rewarding. It’s hard for me because I’m in public school and people in public school are very judgemental. Not to mention that my school is probably full of the most unkind teenagers in Oklahoma.
I never thought that a boy might actually be nice about my love of Star Wars, mostly because my little brother is rude about it to me (he says I talk about Star Wars too much and today he freaked out because I started blowing up about a show he was watching that was making fun of The Clone Wars) but I’ve been hanging out with my brother’s friends lately and they all think It’s so cool that I can talk about Star Wars Legos with them. I feel like I’ve gotten very off-topic. I do that a lot! I’m such a wierdo!
I use to be afraid to tell that i loved clone wars…because i did not want to be mad fun of….but ever sense this website was created i have been able to show everyone that i am a clone wars fan and i will show it proudly thnx Ashley luv u.
Yeah, I’m a SW loving girly girl, too. That’s why I think Her Universe needs some PINK, girly stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
~Padmé
I’m a SW loving girly girl too… I just don’t love pink. My little sisters room is like pink overkill and i’m kind of tired of all the pink. I do agree that a little pink wouldn’t be so bad though… I am proud to be a fan girl! The other day I totally impressed some guy with my love of SW. He was so surprised that I was a girl who knew so much about SW and who’s MOM took her to CV. My best friend is hooked on SW because of me, and my other best friend hates it for the same reason!! I’ve gotton off topic too, Sorry! MTFBWY,
Jedi~Chick
i like the pink idea Padme hopefully Ashley will do some of our ideas….. i really want a charm bracelet idea i know that i have already said that…but i hope she makes one….i would love for anakin and ahsoka to be on it. Oh yea here is an idea i just thought of it…ok we could have a t shirt that has anakin and Ahsoka on it that says double trouble:) lol
o yea and can anyone tell me how to do the smiley faces?
First you put this : Then you put a capital D. :+D=
-Leia
thnx:D.:+D
how come it did not work?I must have done something wrong…. clumsy me
Do this : D only with no space.
-Leia
-Leia
thnx leia so much….i appreciate it…..now i know it:D
I’m not as much of a girly-girl. I wear makeup every now and then and I would like shopping if my mom wasn’t hanging over my shoulder making comments on what I pick out, but for the most part I’m kind of a tomboy. There’s nothing wrong with pink though, just not pink overkill like Jedi Chick said. Okay, this is off topic again but I feel the need to share that I got a new Star Wars poster today that is super-awesome and from the original trilogy, and I put it in a frame that used to have a puppy poster in it and my mom said “You’ve outgrown puppies but you haven’t outgrown Star Wars”.
There’s nothing wrong with puppies btw! I love puppies! I just love Star Wars more!
There’s nothing wrong with puppies btw! I love puppies! But I love Star Wars more!
There’s nothing wrong with puppies btw! I love puppies a lot! I just love Star Wars more!
oh wow whoops! sorry for the tripple post! I couldn’t get it to work! sorry!
LOL I understand.
-Leia
Yea me to
LOL I watched an episode of JAG that Ashley guest appeared on. I loved it! LOL
-Leia

Im so excited about the forums and Star Was in 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SWEET AWSOMNEST!!!!!!!!!! Im not much of a girly girl either Dutchess Satine Kenobi. Pink definetly aint my thing nothing wrong with it though. Im totally a tomboy. So excited for tomorrow new clone wars episode im ready to see more Rex and Ahsoka!!!!!
I can’t wait to see Star Wars in 3D because I haven’t gotten to see any of the Star Wars movies in theater except The Clone Wars. They had an article about Star Wars in 3D in our newspaper today.

Maybe you can go ahead and open a new account.
-Leia
Yeah, if I were you I’d make a new account
What happened to the rebbel aliance necklace?!
The weird thing is that I tryed to make a new account BUT the say there is already an account with that E-mail. Maby I’ll just use my parents E-mail. Then should my user name be anniesokalover4ever, annieliver4ever, sokalover4ever, ore SWgirlpower?!
I like SWgirlpower.
-Leia <3
I like SWgirlpower too.
Ok Maby I will go with that one BUT I realy like annielover4ever though
Go by whatever name you want, annielover4ever sounds great too.
Any of those names sound great!
Thx. i am on the Forem. My user name is still Lizzy(Ashley). Sooooo all my homeschool friends, PLEASE add me as your friend.
I totally agree. I feel like I have to hide my love for Star Wars!! I’m starting highschool this year an what friends that i have think im weird for liking it so imagine what highschools gonna be like??? But Ashley thanks for your advice I’m just gonna be myself because i cant help what people think so why even bother to care
Hi,
I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but I am kind of afraid to show it. I’m already more or less considered the class ‘loser’ and I don’t want to give them more stuff to tease me about. High school is hard enough as is. However, my school always does a Halloween day were you can wear costumes to school and get voted on them. There are different contests, including one for the best costume of a well known character. I really want to do Princess Leia in her white Senate Gown from Episode 4, but I really don’t want to be laughed at either. Also, seeing as I don’t know where to get the costume, I’m thinking of buying a pattern off of Ebay and making it. Do you have any advice on how to make it look nice or even to just make it good quality? Plus, if you have anymore advice on how to be more confident, I would really appreciate it.
@Erin – dressing as a Princess for Halloween doesn’t mean you have to be a Disney Princess. I love the SW female characters because of their strength, confidence, and knowledge, besides their beautiful outfits
I am a 41 year-old female SW fan, and have been since 1977. I have never hidden the fact that I LOVE Star Wars. Most of the girls my age liked SW, just not to the extent that I did. Action figures, shirts, lunchboxes, I had it all (for the 1970s). Today I love the kids reactions at my kids elementary school when I wear one of my Her Universe shirts. Positive reactions from both boys and girls! My first grade daughter had a similar question recently about dressing up for Halloween. Even though she has been Leia and Padme the past 2 years, she was reluctanat. So I reminded her that her friends all know she loves SW, and in fact, her hockey-playing first grade girl friend gave her a SW t-shirt for her birthday last year! To be confident in anything you do, you just need to believe in yourself, and what you like. My daughter and I are Princess fans – both Disney and SW!
@Erin “you can shine no matter what your made of” or should it be nineties what your a fan of

Ooooo! Love the idea of the shirt: Think Star Wars is just for boys? Think again!. If you do that totally put a girl jedi on the front. Keep the ideas coming girls!!!
Thanks for the support, guys. I went as Leia and it was great. I’m so proud of how the costume turned out and I got alot of positive feedback. I even won a prize in the costume contest. Next, I’m planing on being a Jedi.
